At Barkers', we take the safety of all our players seriously. Senior players are supported by trained sports therapists for training and games, junior players can have sports therapy referrals for rugby injuries, all teams are supported by trained first aiders.
Our sports therapists
Aine Hurley, is our Lead Sports Therapist. She is part of the Men's 1st XV team, providing match day therapy and first aid cover, as well as injury and rehab advice on Tuesday and Thursday training nights.
Aine also provides a Junior Sports Therapist Clinic on Tuesday nights, 5pm - 6pm, for any juniors with rugby injuries. Parents can make a referral to Aine to be seen at this clinic by completing the form: Junior Sports Therapist Referral.
Chris Wellington, is our Sports Therapist for the Colts. He provides match day therapy and first aid cover, as well as injury and rehab advice on Tuesday training nights.
Jacques Niyonkuru is our Sports Therapist for Women's XV and Men's 2's. He provides match day therapy and first aid cover, as well as injury and rehab advice on Wednesday training nights.
Rugby Safe!
Kate Collins is our Rugby Safe Lead which means that she is responsible for ensuring that Barkers' adheres to all rules and guidance in keeping players safe. Kate also manages the Mini and Junior first aiders.
For Mini and Junior, if you have a query regarding first aid or a rugby injury/incident, you should speak to your first aider first, or your Team Manager/Team Administrator, however Kate can also be contacted with queries.
Headcase protocols
All players, parents and guardians understand the lengths that rugby clubs and the RFU are going to, to make rugby as safe as possible for everyone involved.
