Home to Ashby
After the rain came the storm and unfortunately it was Ashby who supplied the fireworks in a first half full of pace and power from their efficient back line
Barkers started well and Ashby were on the back foot but from a scrum deep in they’re half came the first score and for the next 15 minutes Ashby dominated the score board with brutal efficiency
Barkers then started to put their mark onto the game with a bout of pressure in the Ashby 22, with Ashby in control of the ball Ben Edwards put a hit on the 9 and with the ball going free over the line Luke Linton and Rory Gallagher dived for the ball with Luke winning the dive
Luke converting
However Ashby weren’t finished and on the whistle made the score 40-7 at HT
The halftime chat was all about pride and getting our style of play out there
And fair play to the players this is what they did
The game was gone but the determination and grit they showed was a performance in second half in which a number of try’s came
George Parnell chip , pick up and score
Ethan Spandley after being pulled back by the Ref a number of times eventually got he’s reward
Tom Jeffrey close to the line and powered over
With Barkers again pushing a loose ball gave Ashby the final score and a score line at FT of 22-54
A tough day where lessons need to be learnt
Can’t turn off
Can’t give them time to run
Can’t stand off in Defence
Exert the pressure defence
Learn from the first time and not to wait
First up tackles need to be made
Look after the ball
But Ashby played well with a 10 and 13 offloading in the tackle to great effect and with powerful running to create havoc in Barkers defensive structure
A lesson learned thru the game and to be fair the players adapted and came back strongly
Thanks to all
