Old Coventrians RFC
Barkers Butts RFC

After a 2 year break in this fixture the boys and parents approached the game with an equal amount of optimism and apprehension. During the warm up the boys clearly looked up for the challenge and the weather conditions being wet and miserable it was going to be tuff going and it would be the boys needing to brighten up the morning, and how they did.

The boys started strong from the kick off with some thunderous runs and slick handling there was a great run from Sam who went over between the posts, converetd by a thankful Alex.

The lads now had the bit bewteen their teeth and with some more good handling and good link up play especially with the forwards, Macca a new recruit went over on the left hand touchline to score his first try for the club! Barkers then settled into a period of dominance where we probably stopped ourselves scoring a couple of more tries through not spotting the 3 man overlap out wide, which was suitabley pointed out :-).

It was then Moff's turn to go on a rampaging run after some gret support in the Maul, converted by Alex. In the 10 minutes prior to half time Old C's woke up and had a period of sustained pressure scoring 2 unconverted tries.

At half time something unique happened for Barkers with us able to make 7 substitutions and bring on some fresh legs and it was only a couple of minutes before Harry sprinted through on a super lineto score under the posts which Alex gratefully converted.

After some dominant forward play and slick back moves Alex carved through an opening with a little double pump to score by the posts and go on to convert, and finishing off in style was Sam who made a typically trademark break sprinting round 3 or 4 defenders to score on the right hand side!

Agreat performnce by all the boys and some big smiles in the bar afterwards from coaches and parents other than Al and Scot who were celebrating the Japanese performance!
